6 AM

Buddy Run.

This is one of the things Mentors of Team In Training are assigned to do.

For our team, Tuesday is Buddy Run day.

And mine is 6 AM.

If you know about my schedule, you already know why, but for those of you that have no idea, I'll tell you.

This is only time I can do Buddy Run.

I work a few hours in the morning and some more in the evening, so I cannot have "normal" Buddy Runs like other Mentors do.(usually, it's 5:30 PM or 6:00PM)

I got up 5:15 in the morning, picked up Satoko(she has no choice but to come since she is my "friend":)), went to Rancho San Antonio.

It was still dark and we could barely see people's faces.

We waited for a while, but no one seemed to show up, so started running.

We ran about 40 minutes and it's always harder at first and then gets better in the end.

Walked to the parking and saw two Captains from the same team starting their Buddy Run @ 7AM.

I was starving afterwards.

By the way, last night was fundraising faire, and Becky, our manager wore wet suit while she gave us a speech.

I have heard it numerous times that there was a guy on Ironman Team(I think) who wore a wet suit that said," wanna know why I'm wearing this? Ask me!" to everywhere he went(work, bank, grocery stores, etc) for a week and raised $8000.

That's amazing, isn't it!?

We are thinking about wearing Yukata for fundraising.

We'll see how it goes...

今日はBuddy Runの日。

このBuddy　Run、Mentorに課せられた必要事項の一つです。

私の属するチームは火曜日がBuddy Runの日。

ちなみに私のRunは6時。はい、そうです。朝の。

私は朝数時間と夕方に主に仕事なので、他のMentorのように『普通』の時間(午後5時半とか6時とか）にできないんです。

朝、5時15分に起き、さとこを迎えに。

彼女は私が有無を言わせず、私の時間に参加決定しました。『友達』やもんね(笑）！

Rancho San Antonioに到着。まだまだ暗くって、人の顔もほとんど見えませんでした。

しばらく待ってみたものの、思ったとおりに誰も来ず・・・。

走り始め、40分ほどRun・Walk。

やっぱり最初がすっごくきついんですが、しばらく走ってると平気になるから不思議。

駐車場に向かうと、同じチームのキャプテンが2人、私たちと同じように来ない参加者を待ってました・・・。彼らのRunは7時から。

走った後はやっぱりすっごくお腹がすきます。

話は変わりますが、昨晩はFundraising Faireといって、基金集めのアイディアの説明会？のようなものがありました。

ここで、私たちのチームのマネージャー、ベッキーはウエットスーツを着こんでスピーチ。

彼女自身もトライアスロン(泳いで、自転車乗って、走るっていうレース）はもちろん、その中でも鉄人レースと呼ばれる(走る部分がフルマラソン！！！）ものをTeamでトレーニングしつつ、スタッフをやっている人です。

このチームに入って何度も聞いたことのある逸話に『鉄人チームのある男性』が基金集めの為に一週間ウェットスーツを着続けたっていうものがあります。

仕事にも（仕事にそんな格好でいけるのがさすがシリコンバレー！って思いますが）、銀行にも買い物にもとにかく1週間、ずーっとウェットスーツで外出したそうで。

そのスーツには『何でこんな格好してるか気になったら声かけて』ってシールを張ってたそうです。

何と、この人、1週間で8000ドル集めたらしいんですよ！

すっごくないですか！？

友達と、そこまでは集まらないだろうけど、やろうと思ってるのが、『浴衣で外出1週間』。

さーてどうなるでしょう！
